PacketLight CWDM & DWDM Solutions
Rapid growth in data volumes and the growing dependency of enterprises on their data are driving enterprises to look for reliable and cost-effective backup and data protection solutions.
In parallel, natural disasters, terrorist acts and human errors have driven legislators world-wide to generate new regulations for the protection of data resources, such as Sarbannes-Oxley and the Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act (HIPAA) in the US, Basel II in Europe and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) in Japan, requiring enterprises to set up remote backup sites for data protection over CWDM or DWDM networks. PacketLight addresses these needs by providing data and storage connectivity (CWDM, DWDM, FC, SONET/SDH) between separate SAN and LAN islands over the existing Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure.

Notes:
PacketLight products have built in Mux Demux, for either CWDM or DWDM infrastructure. This can mux up to 8 services using the built in mux, or the PL-300 can be used with built in Mux Demux of up to 32 wavelengths for DWDM. The PL-400 can be used to seamlessly mux DWDM wavelengths into an existing CWDM spectrum, where the 8 Channel CWDM capacity is utilised, so instead of adding another CWDM connection, a further 32 DWDM wavelengths or services, can be multiplexed into the existing infrastructure.
PacketLight solutions can also integrate 1G, 2G, 4G and 10G Fiber Channel (FC) into a CWDM or DWDM system. PacketLight has detailed knowledge of FC and has now launched the PL-1000, capable of providing up to 32 services of 10G FC, WAN or LAN multiplexed into a single fiber.
PacketLight's PL-400 can mux up to 32 services of 1G, 2G or 4G FC, as well as all other protocols commonly used in communications today.
